Yoga Support through Cancer

For people living with cancer and their caregivers. A variety of types of yoga can be offered, depending on the students' needs: restorative yoga, meditation, and yoga for energy. Class size is limited so that each person will have the attention and guidance they need. For more information about free yoga classes for cancer patients/survivors, click here.

The Fluid Nature of Vinyasa (2 hours)

Tap into the fluid nature of the body with this water-based practice of Prana Flow ® yoga.
Our bodies are made up mostly of water. Movement helps the blood to circulate, increases mobility in the joints, and allows our thoughts to flow freely.

Movement meditation, and a flowing sequence of Shiva Rea's mandala namaskars and rhythmic asanas with energy that rises and falls like waves in the ocean.

Pre/Post Natal Workshop -
The Flow of Pregnancy (2 hours)
Learn techniques for a yoga practice that can sustain you through and beyond your pregnancy. Understand how to safely practice w/ modifications in other non-prenatal yoga classes.  Susan Reeve is a RPYT, Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance.

Topics for discussion:
*Yoga practice through the trimesters
*Importance of meditation/visualization
*Pranayama - breathing techniques to aid focus during labor
*Prenatal flows created by Shiva Rea
*Pelvic floor awareness
*Standing poses to build strength
*Seated poses to enhance flexibility
*Instructions for a post-natal yoga practice

Restorative Yoga Workshop (2 hours)
Unwind the tension in your body and soothe your spirit.
Learn the basics of the nurturing and healing practice of Restorative Yoga. It is a practice that uses soft props to support the body in restful positions to promote full relaxation.

Class size is limited so that each person will have the attention and guidance they need. Here is a link to an article about the benefits of restorative yoga.

Thai Yoga Workshop (3 hours)
I'm proud to assist in this workshop series through Yoga Bridge with Pamela Ryan, LMT, E-RYT 200.

Thai Yoga is a relatively new phenomenon emerging from the integration of traditional Thai Massage techniques and yoga postures. In these workshops, students will learn unique partner yoga stretches as well as the pressure points that stimulate the body’s energy (“Sen”) lines. The Thai Yoga combination relieves muscular tension resulting from stress, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and enhances a sense of overall well-being: a plank in the bridge to health and happiness.

A portion of this workshop is donated to Foundation 56, an organization that provides much-needed services to women with breast cancer. To read more about the benefits of yoga for cancer patients/survivors, click here.
